Leadership You Can Trust

Stephanie O. Burgess is a Savannah native, attorney, and community advocate running to represent Georgia House District 164. As the founding owner and managing attorney of Burgess Law Group, LLC, Stephanie has spent her career standing up for individuals and families across Coastal Georgia, handling cases in criminal defense, family law, and probate matters. Her work in the courtroom has been rooted in fairness, accountability, and ensuring that every person has access to justice.

Stephanie’s commitment to public service began long before her legal career. She first served as a Georgia P.O.S.T. certified police officer, deputy sheriff, and campus police officer, gaining firsthand insight into the challenges facing both law enforcement and the communities they serve. She later worked within the court system as a staff attorney for Fulton County Superior Court and the City of Atlanta Municipal Court, where she saw how laws and policies directly impact people’s lives. These experiences shaped her belief that strong, thoughtful leadership is essential at every level of government.

Big Issues, Big Fight

Throughout her career, Stephanie has been recognized for her excellence and leadership in the legal profession. She has been named among the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 and the National Black Lawyers Top 100 African American Attorneys and Top 100 Criminal Defense Attorneys. Savannah Magazine has featured her in multiple editions, including its Women in Business issue, and South Magazine recognized her as one of South’s Finest Lawyers.

Stephanie remains deeply involved in professional and community leadership. She serves on the Executive Board of the Women Lawyers Division of the National Bar Association and co-chairs its International Committee. She is a past president of the Port City Bar Association and currently serves on the Executive Board of Savannah State University’s College of Business Administration. Earlier in her career, she volunteered with the Clayton County Rape Crisis Center, coordinating support services for survivors.

Stephanie was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 2005 and is also admitted to practice before the Georgia Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Savannah State University and her Juris Doctor from Texas Southern University after beginning her studies at Clark Atlanta University.

Stephanie Burgess believes District 164 deserves strong, principled leadership that listens to the community and delivers real solutions. Her campaign is grounded in protecting families, expanding access to quality education and healthcare, strengthening public safety with fairness and accountability, and growing a local economy that creates opportunity for everyone. As State Representative, Stephanie will work every day to ensure the voices of Savannah and District 164 are heard under the Gold Dome.
